Youth Engagement
Young people are valuable, important members of the Exmouth community who have many skills, talents and aspirations. The Shire's Community team work with young people in the Exmouth community to provide a range of initiatives, programs, activities and events for young people 12-24 years old.
Youth engagement initiatives include:
- Art/Music, Sport and Cultural activities and events
- School holiday activities
- Workplace learning opportunities
The programs are designed to:
- Support and empower young people
- Increase youth leadership
- Provide young people with a sense of social inclusion
- Develop skills of young people
- Connect young people within the community
- Increase access to Art, Sport and Cultural activities
- Increase exposure to new ideas, opportunities and experiences
- Celebrate and showcase young people's skills
We also work to:
- Facilitate community development opportunities with, by and for young people
- Create partnerships with other community services and organisations
- Provide support, advocacy, information and referral for young people in Exmouth
Youth activities are often developed and delivered in partnership with other community organisations including:
- Exmouth District High School
- Exmouth sporting groups and clubs
- Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions
- Exmouth business community
Youth consultation
The Shire values and respects the opinions and aspirations of young people and undertakes periodic formal evaluations, surveys and workshops to consult and engage with young people in the community.
