For the third year in a row, Exmouth won Gold in the 7News Top Tourism Town Awards' Small Tourism Town Category in Western Australia and will compete as a finalist in the Australian Top Tourism Town Awards later this year.
Open to towns with a population between 1,500 and 5,000 people, Exmouth was in great company in the Small Tourism Town category, competing against Carnarvon, Christmas Island, Tom Price, Toodyay, and York. Top, Small, and Tiny Town winners are chosen based on a combination of consumer votes, a customer review by ReviewPro GRI, and a submission review by a panel of three experienced judges.
As the 7NEWS Small Tourism Town Award Winner, Exmouth will receive a $10,000 advertising prize package provided by 7NEWS, a 7NEWS on-air acknowledgement, an electronic logo, and a framed certificate. Shire Deputy President Jackie Brooks accepted the award on behalf of Council.
In addition to this year's win, Exmouth's previous awards include Gold in the 2019, 2022 and 2023 WA Small Tourism Town competitions, Bronze in the 2021 WA Small Tourism Town competition, and Gold in the 2022 National Small Tourism Town competition.
Terra Australis, whose work can be found on Disney +, BBC, Netflix, National Geographic, and the Discovery Channel, supported Exmouth's 2024 submission with its incredible videography. The video featured Harper, a child on holiday with her family, who meets Hazel Walgar, one of the Traditional owners of the Ningaloo Coast. The submission sought to honour the region's history while capturing the childlike awe visitors experience when exploring Exmouth by land and taking in the wonders of the sea.
