Ex-Tropical Cyclone Lincoln to remain a tropical low and is moving south and will pass to the west of the Exmouth-Ningaloo area before crossing the Gascoyne coast between Coral Bay and Cape Cuvier tonight. The system is expected to remain a tropical low but may cause a period of strong winds especially to the Ningaloo coast during Saturday.

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Lincoln is moving to the west-southwest and is likely to turn to the south, towards the far west Pilbara coast from tonight. Ex-Lincoln is forecast to re-develop into a tropical cyclone tonight.
On Saturday, the system is most likely to pass just to the west of the Exmouth-Ningaloo area then cross the Gascoyne coast before weakening inland on Sunday.
🌀 Please be advised that ALL Shire of Exmouth facilities are now CLOSED. This includes the tip, visitor centre, swimming pool, office, airport, depot and library.
🌀 In anticipation of strong winds and potentially heavy rainfall, several roads will be closed from tomorrow, Saturday, 24 February 2024, including Minilya-Exmouth Road both directions between North West Coastal Highway and Exmouth townsite from 12pm. 🌀 Evacuation Centres are open at the Carnarvon Civic Centre (21 Robinson St, Carnarvon) and the Exmouth Shire Hall (22 Maidstone Crescent, Exmouth). Please take any essential items, such as medications and identification, to the evacuation centre. Pets (except recognised assistance animals) are not allowed inside evacuation centres for health and safety reasons, so you should make alternative arrangements for them.

GALES with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of 100 km/h may develop overnight tonight between Onslow and Ningaloo, and become more likely during Saturday in the Exmouth to Coral Bay region as the cyclone approaches from the north.
The risk of GALES with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of 100 km/h may extend to between Coral Bay and Carnarvon, including Carnarvon by late Saturday, and further south between Carnarvon and Wooramel Roadhouse on Saturday night.
HEAVY RAINFALL is likely to be confined to near the path of the cyclone, developing about the western Pilbara as the cyclone approaches the coast from tonight, and then spreading southwards into the western Gascoyne as the system moves south on Saturday.
ABNORMALLY HIGH TIDES near the path of the system could cause MINOR FLOODING at the coast between Onslow and Wooramel Roadhouse.

The Shire of Exmouth is currently on BLUE ALERT as Ex-cyclone Lincoln is approaching and may produce gales within 24-48 hours, and residents are advised to take precautions now!
The tip is open until 6 PM today to allow residents to help residents to get rid of any rubbish. The tip will be CLOSED TOMORROW (Friday 23/02/2024) until further notice to enable our staff to cyclone prepare the facility.
Secure or remove loose material and rubbish from around your home or work.
Friday's rubbish bin collection for the Wilderness Estate and Skipjack Circle will commence earlier to be finished before the expected yellow alert is in place. PLEASE PUT YOUR BINS OUT TONIGHT OR EARLY IN THE MORNING TO ALLOW FOR PICK UP. The crew is planning to start 2-3 hours earlier than usual.
Please do NOT dump materials at the Bring It Centre.
Please note that the Paltridge Memorial Swimming Pool and Spray Park will be closed from 23 February (Friday) until further notice.

GENERAL ADVICE
Keep up to date with the development of the cyclone through radio, television or internet.
Organise your emergency kit, including a first aid kit, essential medications, torch, portable radio, spare batteries, food and water.
Consider relocating people with special needs, including people who are pregnant, elderly or have disabilities.
Identify the strongest part of your house or the closest welfare centre.
Identify a safe place for your pet (most welfare centres do not accept pets, but do accept guide dogs).
Ensure you have adequate tie down materials or anchor points for loose items.
Organise a gas barbeque or portable stove to use outside in a dry, ventilated area, in case electricity is cut.
Remind your family of cyclone procedures.
Remember: Like all cyclones and systems, this system may be unpredictable. Locals and travellers should plan and prepare as early as possible.
