Exmouth artists - we want you!

Community members across the Shire are asked to show what the Shire of Exmouth means to them for this year’s ShoWcAse in Pixels Competition.

The annual exhibition of artwork from Local Governments will be displayed on the iconic 45-metre high digital tower at the heart of Yagan Square in Perth City. This format of the display means participants are no longer restricted to PVC canvas and creativity is encouraged.

Exmouth community members are encouraged to submit an art piece for the opportunity to represent the Shire as the official 2024 Showcase in Pixels submission.

This is the first year video submissions are being accepted as part of the competition.
The competition has categories open to primary and high schools, community groups and professional digital artists.

  • Junior primary school(s) - Up to Year 3
  • Upper primary school(s) - Up to Year 6
  • Secondary school(s) - Up to Year 12

Prizes for each category:

Your design should be unique, bold, fun and reflect the following:

  • Relation to the convention theme: Heroes among Us.
  • This year's core theme invites artists to spotlight those whose dedication and selflessness transcend the ordinary, contributing to the fabric of our communities. This could range from realistic portraits capturing the steely determination of a first responder, to abstract interpretations that convey the essence of community service. The artwork may include mixed media, digital art, paintings, sculptures, or any form of visual art that resonates with the theme.

The judges will consider:

  • Alignment to the core theme
  • Is it easy to identify what Council is being represented? e.g. does it integrate the Council name in the art, depict wildflowers, farming, unique flora/fauna, coffee strip etc. Elements that are unique to the area and Council.
  • Composition
  • Use of colour and creativity
  • Artistic merit
  • Individuality, boldness and humour
