Inspire Exmouth Community Engagement Workshops by Barking Gecko Theatre Company are open for enrollment. Workshop series: Theatre Games and Improvisation and Character and Devising offers workshops designed for participants aged 8 – 12 years, as well as secondary students aged 13+.
The inaugural bi-annual destination event, the Ningaloo (Nyinggulu) Sky Festival, will take place in June 2025 in Exmouth. Shire of Exmouth will be spearheading the programming together with regional businesses, vendors, and creatives, ensuring a unique and unforgettable experience for all.
The Shire of Exmouth celebrated the grand opening of its brand-new skatepark this month with a three-day festival: The Exmouth Skate Fest The creation of the Exmouth skatepark was a monumental effort, made possible thanks to funding from various organisations. Key contributors included Santos, Lotterywest, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC), and the Exmouth Cricket Club. These contributions and the tireless efforts of local volunteers culminated in a facility that promises to be a cornerstone for recreational activities in Exmouth for all ages, especially for the youth.

The Shire encourages visitors to plan their trips in advance to help manage tourism resources and maintain a positive visitor experience. The Shire Council has unanimously decided on the rate in the dollar, ensuring our rates are in line with similar Local Government entities across Western Australia. In response to community concerns, Council has decided to offer individual interest-free payment plans to residential owner-occupiers who do not rent out their properties. The development marks a new chapter for the Shire of Exmouth and its quest to prevent illegal camping on the North West Cape $200K of additional funds have been earmarked to advance the development of a camping ground managed by the local community club in the remaining 2023/34 Financial Year. The Exmouth Horseman’s Club Inc. is a long-standing Exmouth club with consistent membership numbers and good governance, equipped to manage the newly developed camping ground.

• A group of community leaders are fundraising to ensure much-needed equipment is available locally. • Exmouth Freemasons donated $20K to purchase palliative care equipment for community members in need.
• The Food Truck Fiesta shows the importance of supporting small businesses and the role they play in creating vibrant and thriving communities. • The initiative aims to bring the community together and provide a platform for local businesses to showcase their culinary talents.
• With Exmouth joining the EV Network, Horizon Power and Council are paving the way for the future of cleaner, greener electric vehicles. • When complete, EV drivers will have access to 98 EV charging stations across 49 locations along major West Australian transport routes. • The 150kW DC fast charger at the Ningaloo Centre can charge an EV enough in as little as 20 minutes to easily get travellers to the next charging station.
• Four conferees from the Philippines and Brazil received their citizenship from Shire President Darlene Allston. • These new Australians bring their unique stories, traditions, and perspectives, enriching our community and adding depth to our collective identity.
• The Community Citizen of the Year Awards is a Western Australia-wide campaign to recognise the outstanding contributions made by local people to local communities. • Nominations close on 31 October, and awards will be presented at the Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony in January 2024.
• Relocation of childcare services to allow for a much-needed increase in childcare placements. • Exmouth’s Town Centre Revitalisation Plan aims to address the need for additional retail space to accommodate the population's future growth. • Continuance of a month-by-month peppercorn lease for the current Childcare provider, One TreeBernice McLeod Day Care, until the new operator commences.
Exmouth electors will only vote for the publicly elected Shire President during the Local Government Election on 21 October 2023, with Darlene Allston and Matt Niikkula nominated for the position as the three vacant seats as Councillors were filled unopposed with Todd Bennett, Kai Broedner and Kristy Devereux, who will officially take office on 23 October 2023.
Round 1 of the Community and Sporting Grants is open for one more week, as the deadline for applications closes on 22 September 2023. The Community Grants Program will provide financial assistance to Exmouth's incorporated community and sporting groups to help build capacity within the community.
In a Special Council Meeting, Councillors majorly voted to publicly elect the Shire President in the upcoming Local Government Election in October 2023.
The Ocean Film Festival World Tour is marking a decade of success and accomplishment - Exmouth's residents and visitors have the chance to enjoy a screening on 30 June 2023.
